How IRCC counts family size and funds
- Count yourself, your spouse or common-law partner, dependent children and your partner’s dependent children.
- Include a spouse or dependent child even if they are Canadian citizens or permanent residents, or will not accompany you.
- For Federal Skilled Worker and Federal Skilled Trades applicants, the published minimum depends on family size. Canadian Experience Class applicants and certain applicants with a valid job offer plus Canadian work authorization do not need to show proof of funds.
- IRCC says the funds must be legally accessible and available both when you apply and when a permanent resident visa is issued.
